Leadership & Upskilling April 2025 Islamic Cultural Centre of Ireland

One aspect of Leadership that often gets overlooked is the idea of the constant upskilling that leaders need to do to navigate into the spaces they need to be. Between learning new skills, developing their thinking or even growing their network, upskilling is often the easiest and most accessible way to start on a leadership journey. 

Our speakers Liliana Fernández and Sarah Mc Manus  both shared their amazing stories with us about how Upskilling played a part in their own Leadership journey. There were a lot of takeaways, I am sure you will all agree. We particularly loved: 

• Upskilling doesn’t have to be professional, take a class or a course just for fun, it keeps it fun 

• Education and upskilling are not the same thing 

• We undervalue many innate skills we learn through experience like through parenting, own this skill set
