In this episode of our Leadership Academy Breakfast Club series we discussed the topic of Leadership & Technology.
Remember a time when you had to fax a letter to sign?
When you had to put a stamp on an email?
When you had to wear shoes to the office?
Us neither… As technology and remote work embed in our lives now, how are we leading virtually? We all suspect AI will take our jobs but what will happen to our leaders? And our leadership styles? How is/will leadership change in a technological environment?
In this online session we were joined by guest speakers Sheena Horgan and Dr. Colin Hughes who had some great insights.
Both leaders emphasised the importance understanding and using technology in our roles as Leaders. This was an incredibly interesting and enjoyable conversation, some points we have taken away with us include:
Leaders should be taking an entrepreneurial approach to technological advances in their organisations, they need to be actively looking for ways to introduce change
Digital tools won’t replace people, but they should be used to claim time back that should be used to be better leaders
Change is here to stay, and its important people are brought along with change and that change is not put on them
